TCS-GPS help on line

These pages contain most important informations to enable you to use your TCS-GPS.
First of all you should take a look at the block diagram and read the description contained in this page and then go through the other pages and start using the device.
TCS-GPS is quite a powerful device and if you learn how to use it well you will find many useful features.
  • The TCS-GPS can be controlled and programmed by SMS or by means of a data call.
  • It can send alarms via SMS or it can place a call (for 20 seconds) to any telephone.
  • As any other TCS product it can send alarms to a maximum of 8 telephone numbers. what alarm goes to whom can be easily programmed by means of the alamr Matrix.
  • GPS position can be obtained in NMEA format and in decimal degrees format.
  • Waypoints can be stored into a flash eprom every x seconds or in a 'smart log' mode that will calculate the sampling speed according to direction and speed of the vehicle.
  • Data in the flash memory can be read out sector by sector (maximum 15 sectors with 540 points each) and the logger is a circular buffer with FIFO functionality.
  • The TCS-GPS has some special functions that can be programmed using hexadecimal 'expert' registers.
  • These special functions program service messages, how the unit goes in low power mode, what it does in low power mode and how it wakes up from the low power mode and more.

The unit has various alarms like:
  • High speed alarm (#SSL)
  • 'Entering a defined area' alarm (#EGA)
  • 'exiting a defined area' Alarm (#EGA)
  • Digital input alarm (#IPM)
  • Analog input alarm (#SNS)
  • Acceleration alarm (useful to warn in case of a crash)(#REG0Aetc.)

  • The TCS-GPS has a vibration sensor that will wake it up automatically. In this way it is possible to set it to low power mode after x minutes without any movement, to achieve 1 ma consumption, and wake it up as soon at the vehicle moves.

  • The unit can be powered from 6 to 28 VDC and can also be attached to a secondary battery that will act as a backup. If the main power fails, the unit will switch to the secondary power source and send a warning SMS.

  • Serial Port: The unit can be connected to a PC using the special cable that we can provide, with level shifter, that links to the 10 pin programmers connector. Data communication is at 4800 Baud.
