TCS-GPS help on line

The TCS-GPS is a very powerful device. It can perform basic functions very simple to program and use, but it can also perform more powerful functions that require study and tests to be able to understand and use.

Here is a list of the basic functions:
  • Get GPS waypoint and send it via SMS upon request
This can be obtained in 2 ways:
  • 1)issuing the GPS? command: the unit will return an SMS with GPS position
  • 2) with a rejected call using the appropriate settings for ACM, VCF and WHL commands.
  • Either way will return a message like the following NMEA:4413.2428,N,01204.5249,E,1,03
    LAT/LON:44.220715,12.075415
    ALT:105m
    SPD:80Km/h

    In details:
    NMEA and LAT/LON are 2 ways of describing coordinates;
ALT is the altitude in meters
SPD is the ground speed in km/h

  • Set Speed limit and send an alarm when it is exceeded
Use the #SSL command. Example: #SSL130 sets the speed limit at 130 kmh.
Once the alarm SMS has been sent, the speed must return to 0 in order to allow the generatin of another alarm.
  • Set acceleration limit and set an alarm when it is exceeded (i.e. car accident)
Use register 0A to set the acceleration limit. Suggested value is A0.
  • Manual EGA function: mark manually a position and send an alarm everytime the unit enters or exits the designated area.
Using the EGA command, you can mark a point and define a radius (minimum 45). When the vehicle enters or leaves the area, an alarm will be generated. We use this command in combination with our TCS-Easygate to open the gate automatically when we get near it.
  • Automatic Ega function: automatically mark a new EGA position everytime the unit is not moving (or upon other parameters).
Similar as above with the difference that it activates automatically. Use registers settings to enable this funciton and define activation delay.
  • Sends alarm according to Input 1 status (standard TCS feature)
  • Sends alarm according to 4-20 ma analog input status (standard TCS feature)
