TCS-GPS help on line

  The TCS-GPS is a very powerful device. It can perform basic functions very simple to program and use, but it can also perform advanced functions that require study and tests to be able to understand and use.
Here is a list of the more advanced functions:
LOG functions
(See also a really downloaded LOG example)
  • Stores on flash eprom the GPS position every x seconds. This is available as a standard logger (logs all points), and Smart logger (logs only relevant points, to save memory)
  • Using the LGF command you can instruct the unit to store the position and other details every x seconds
  • You can log periodically, i.e. every x seconds (from 3 to 65535) or you can use the Smart Logger function that will reduce the sampling rate if the unit does not move or if the movement is on a straight line. details that affect the data amount can be set with register 03.
  • Gets Flash memory sector information with the GSI command:
  • 00=540, 2003/02/07, 15:05:33, 2004/02/08, 12:54:27,
    01=199, 2004/02/08, 12:54:30, 2004/02/08,13:28:33
    ....
    13=540, 2003/02/05, 18:41:58, 2003/02/07, 08:04:00
    14=540, 2003/02/07, 08:04:09, 2003/02/07, 15:05:27
  • Including:
  • Sector number (0..14)
  • Number of records (0..540)
  • First record date and time
  • Last record date and time
  • Retrieves only designated records with command GSR:
  • #GSR0,300,2
    $DPTG2,2004/02/08,12:09:28, MAXGPS, 355,3,4410.9455,N, 01158.9279,E, 193,1,4,1,S,1,,80,, ,,2,2,1,E,10.5,*1D
    $DPTG2,2004/02/08,12:09:30, MAXGPS, 355,2,4410.9455,N, 01158.9279,E, 193,1,4,1,S,1,,80,, ,,2,2,0,E,10.7,*16
  • In the above example 2 records have been downloaded from sector 0, starting from record 300
  • Erases only designated records with Command ERS. Example: ERS00, ERS14 etc.
  • Sends an automatic SMS every x seconds with GPS position. This feature can be set with command LGS.

  • Other functions
  • Goes in low power mode after a certain period with no movement (REG05)
  • Wakes up with a certain level of movement (REG 04 bit 3 and REG 09)
  • Wakes up at a programmable date and time (command CLA and REG04 bit 6))
  • Wakes up upon a telephone call (REG04 bit 5)
