TCS-GPS II GPS and GSM tracking block diagram

The core of TCS-GPS is a powerful CPU with reliable software developed after years of experience with GSM controls.
For anybody used to TCS products there is the usual programming facility and there are the powerful SMS commands common to the TCS OS operating system.
As can be seen in the block diagram, here are the devices mounted on the TCS-GPSII board:
  • GM47 Sony Ericsson dual band GSM engine
  • low power 12 channels GPS receiver
  • Real time clock, to switch on the unit at programmed times
  • 1 Megabytes data logger on flash Eprom
  • 2 Axes accelerometer to identify a sudden change (i.e. car crash)
  • Vibration sensor: to switch off the unit when the car is stopped and to switch on again when car moves.
  • Open Collector output (max load 100 ma)
  • Digital input (active high, active low, counter)
  • 8 BIt A/D converter with 4-20 ma (or 0-3,6V) input
  • Switching power supply for a wide supply range: 6-28 VDC
  • Serial output (COM3) through the programmer connector (special cable with level shifter required)

  • tcs_gps ii picture 1

In the picture above you can see the connector pinout and the meaning of the LEDs.
To install new firmware using our MFP58 Flash programmer, remove the Jumper near the programmer's connector and remember to reinstall it after having programmed the unit.

    Description of Input-outputs:
    x- (RED) Main Power
    x- (GREY) Backup Power
    x- (BLACK) Power GND
    x- (BROWN) 4-20 ma (+)
    x- (WHITE) 4-20 ma (-)
    x- (VIOLET) I/O GND
    x- (YELLOW) Open Collector Output
    x- (GREEN) Digital Input

Description of LED Indicators on the side of the board:
  • GREEN LED: GSM operation
  • Continuosly ON: the GSM module is registered
  • Continuosly OFF: the GSM module is not registered (no signal or other problems) or unit is in low power mode
  • Led Blinks 2 times: SMS received
  • Led Blinks 1 time: SMS sent
  • Led Blinks continuously: call in progress
  • YELLOW LED: GPS operation
  • continuously ON: enough GPS coverage available
  • continuously OFF: NOT enough GPS coverage or unit is in low power mode
  • Leb Blinks1 time: waypoint logged
  • RED LED: CPU operation
  • Blinks regularly: normal operation
  • Continuously OFF: CPU switched off or in low power mode
